Vision City Conference

OCT 15-19

10/15/24-10/17/24

The SEASIDE Institute™ and Franklin Tomorrow will collaborate to present a Vision City Conference with the theme focused on How History Impacts the Future.

In 2004, the SEASIDE Institute™ joined the City of Franklin and other organizations to offer a multi-day workshop of case studies and critiques of traditional neighborhood developments in Franklin, Tennessee. This year, the two organizations will collaborate again to present a Vision City Conference with the theme focused on "How History Impacts the Future”.

Franklin Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization with a mission to engage the community, foster collaboration, and advocate for a shared vision for the future of Franklin, Tennessee. Through their research, programs, and citizen engagement, they strive to help Franklin be a city with vibrant neighborhoods, a robust economy, distinct character, and great people. Their vision and mission aligns with that of Seaside Institute, promoting community building through design, education, and the arts. The 2024 Vision City Conference dates are Oct. 15-17 and the program will feature a collaboration between Franklin Tomorrow and the SEASIDE Institute™, which as a nonprofit organization promotes community building through design, education, and the arts. The three core tenets of the SEASIDE Institute™ are Sustainability, Connectivity, and Adaptability—beliefs which we think resonate with residents in Franklin and Middle Tennessee.

The theme will be a focus on "How History Impacts the Future." The conference is being planned with a downtown Franklin campus approach for walkability, utilizing The Harpeth Hotel as well as the Franklin Theatre and The Factory at Franklin as potential meeting sites. Our second hotel option is The Harpeth Hotel, we have secured a block of rooms at the Spring Hill Suites in McEwen as our second conference hotel, and expect many will choose to attend by driving from home daily.

We anticipate a registration fee for attendees of approximately $400 and while we anticipate 150-200 attendees, right now we are just trying to gauge your interest in participating by filling out our Google interest form. From there we will contact you with information on registration, an agenda and speakers, as well as hotel reservation links.

Your registration fee will cover most meals over the three days, as well as venue costs and speaker travel, making sponsorship incredibly important for a successful event. There are several partnership levels. Franklin Tomorrow's CEO Mindy Tate is happy to discuss how we could involve your company as a partner or as a speaker. You may also reach out to SEASIDE Institute™ Executive Director, Christy Milliken for details on how to be involved. Thank you to our co-presenting partners to date, Atmos Energy; Ragan Smith, a Pape-Dawson Company; and the City of Franklin. Additional support comes from The TMA Group, The Factory at Franklin & Holladay Properties, Studio Tenn Theatre Company, and the Franklin Theatre.
