In fact, Seaside was the original New Urbanism community and inspired the entire movement. The Seaside Institute™ was founded in 1982 to help others develop their new urban communities. Seaside sparked the new urbanism movement; The Institute promotes the values and benefits of this type of urban planning, striving to share its importance and concepts to improve lifestyles worldwide.

Through strategically designed programs and symposia, and community involvement, the Institute works to create a future that reconnects neighbors and families, schools and merchants, children and adults.
